Teacher & Student Highlight

Have you ever heard that saying about it being the people that make a place? Well, we are featuring another one of our teachers and students this month. This time from the beginning level.

Miguel Guzman | Beginning English Teacher

Teacher Highlight - Miguel Guzman

Miguel Guzman is our go-to man when it comes to teaching beginning levels due to his ability to help the students build confidence in themselves while providing them with the basic building blocks of language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Miguel grew up in Los Angeles, which is a cosmopolitan city. While living there, he constantly found himself helping people from other countries. He says that is how he discovered his knack for languages, so he decided to give teaching a shot.

In his opinion, the most difficult part about learning a language is “losing your fear to speak [which] is hard for many introverted students.” But, he advises any new students interested in coming to Excel to learn English to come aboard and do your best. “You can do it!”

A typical day for Miguel is waking up at 6 am and teaching from 9-1:30 pm, followed by lunch at 2 pm. It’s off to the gym at 3 pm. Then he ends his day with evening classes from 6 to 10:30 pm. Despite this busy schedule, he believes in living spontaneously. “I don’t usually make plans for the future. We only have today!”

Patient, encouraging, and adventurous are three adjectives to describe Mr. Guzman. In his free time, he enjoys watching movies, checking his Facebook, and sleeping.

Farah Anahid Piña Salguero | Beginning English Student

Student Highlight - Farah Salguero

Farah Anahid Piña Salguero is one of Miguel’s beginning students from Mexico. She wants to learn English to be able to work in a school. She says her favorite part of studying English at Excel is… everything!

She enjoys her classes with her teachers, Miguel and Janice. Pronunciation is the most difficult part of learning English for Farah. Her best experience living in Dallas is meeting and interacting with people from other countries. She describes herself as friendly, happy, and funny.

Our Teachers help introverted students lose their fear of speaking English

These two outstanding people at Excel make learning and speaking English fun, rewarding and an experience that will stay with you even after you leave the school.
