International Day at Excel English Institute
During this year’s Summer Olympics in Paris, our Arlington campus celebrated our Annual International Day Celebration. The students came dressed in traditional clothes from their cultures and brought in many traditional food dishes from their country. We celebrated international cultures with student activities and learned more about one another throughout the day.
Every year this celebration gives our students to get to know one another outside of the classroom as well as a chance to practice their conversational skills they’re learning here at Excel. We had a wonderful time and are looking forward to getting to learn more every year.
Halloween Celebration at Excel – Pumpkin Decorations
All activities in 2020 have been canceled or postponed across the US this year due to the Coronavirus. Earlier this year all on-site classes at Excel English Institute were cancelled for a time. With precautions in place, we have been gradually opening up our doors for more classes onsite. With the first large holiday of the Fall/Winter season, the onsite students were especially excited to take time together in a social setting to decorate pumpkins for Halloween!
What is your favorite pumpkin from the decoration contest?
Have a safe and spooky Halloween, students!

What do chicken briyani, steamed dumplings, arepas, tamales and dancing have in common?
INTERNATIONAL DAY at Excel English Institute!
Every year at Excel we celebrate International Day with all of our students. The students bring in traditional food from their country, and we have a lovely feast. Lots of students will wear traditional clothes and bring in flags or other artifacts that is representative of their native land.
This celebration is a wonderful opportunity for students to get to know one another outside of the class and provides great conversation starters. Students who may have only seen each other in the common area were dancing with each other. Those who didn’t know each other bonded after discovering they were from the same country.
We gathered around and enjoyed folkloric dance from Chile. We witnessed the charisma and charm of the Colombian cumbia. We observed the grace and sensuality of Vietnamese dance. We were entertained by the rhythm and movement of African dance.
Some people joined in the dance even if they didn’t know how. Meanwhile, others were content to sit back and watch.
All in all, it was a great day.
Food, dance, and friends – what’s not to enjoy?
Excel English School “Goes Ape” in Plano
One of the best ways to learn to speak English is interacting with the natives! So, we grabbed as many students as we could and we went to hang with the apes in Plano. Not really, but it sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Go Ape is a treetop adventure park in Plano, TX covered in climbing ropes, zip lines, and heart-stopping Tarzan swings. What better way to spend the day than in the trees?
The weather was perfect and the course was awesome. Good luck with those sore muscles tomorrow!
Thanksgiving Celebrations at Excel Institute
The American Thanksgiving holiday is a time to reflect & give thanks for all the abundance & joy we have in our lives. Every year at Excel we celebrate Thanksgiving with all of our students. The students & faculty bring in traditional food from their country, and we have a lovely feast.
This celebration is a wonderful event for students to get to know one another outside of the class and provides great English conversation starters. During the festivities, we asked our students what they are thankful for & they responded with enthusiasm! Read some of their responses on our blog.
Christmas Party at Excel Institute
Each year, we have a Christmas party with fun events planned with our ESL students. This year we sang the Twelve Days of Christmas with each class piping in for one verse.
